When compared to the Nokia N79, perhaps the light shines a little more on the competitor. The Nokia N85 features a 2.6 inch OELD screen for a more advanced display compared to the N79. The N85 features all the advanced technology of the N79 that it was released with including a 5 megapixel camera with LED Flash and Carl Zeiss Tassar lens. The Nokia N85 features a slider, 78MB of internal memory, a standard weight of around 130g, and a talk time of around 4.5 hours while it has a standby time of 360 hours. The N85 is looking for a price range of around $650-900 USD while the N79 is being sold at around the same price ($600+). The reason that these phones are so expensive is because the features that have been built into the two releases.

It will certainly be interesting to watch how these phones hold out on the market as new phones are constantly being released. Design is always an important concept to mobile phones, and is a large determining factor for whether the model sells or not. In this case, both the Nokia N79 and N85 have been designed well enough to appease the untrained eye.

But according to reviewers of the popular blog tech Endgadget, the Nokia N79 doesn’t quite live up to standards when compared to the Nokia N85. The monitor isn’t the best suited for the phone, and the N85 OLED display screen is worth more than the N79 together because the functions of the two phones are almost the same.

Many may disagree to this statement however, as market results have shown that the N79 and N85 have been a big hit with consumers, and that the rating has been generally very high. The Smartphones which have been released so far more or less follow the same design. But if Nokia were to release a new model with the same specifications but a QWERTY keyboard for the working businessman, it may just prove to be the next big hit.
